SUIKERBOSSIES
The large King Protea is the national flower of South Africa. Also called suikerbossies because they produce a considerable amount of nectar. This explains why you often get them with bees. They come in all shapes and sizes and grow on shrubs with rather branchy stems.
The vast majority grow and flower in southwestern of South Africa. So if you want to bring a typically South African flavor into your home, this is the flower for you.
BANHOEK CHILLI OIL COMPANY
Want to literally soak in the oil? Then head to Banhoek Chilli Oil Company, located between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek. Try their various oils, especially if you like it spicy. You can also see whether you're sizzling or smoking hot.
There is a restaurant and for the kids a large playground. And their bottles of oil make a wonderful souvenir for when you're back in your own reality.
DARLING SWEET
At the shop in Darling, you'll practically get that Willy Wonka vibe. You can see how they handcraft South Africa's most delicious toffees. There are many delicious flavors, and they're all beautifully packaged.
Luckily, their sweets are available at many supermarkets. Warning: once you start, you won't be able to stop.
