VIN IK LEUK: RESTAURANTS
Cape Town is heavenly for foodies and even more good news, it is (relatively) affordable too.
There is so much to experience, it is easy to go out every day/night. If time, budget and cholesterol levels allow.

A few of my old time and new favorites.
You can also order the VIN IK LEUK MAGAZINE and the special VIN IK LEUK edition of the Platter's Wine Guide here.
LA COLOMBE, HOUT BAY
Perched high on Silvermist Estate, nestled among the tall trees, you'll feel like you're in the rainforest. You can hear the birds singing, and the setting is serene.
All dishes, some of which are served at the table by the chefs, are each little works of art, and the same applies to the tableware.
The Tuna La Colombe is legendary, and everything else is simply world-class. The wine list is to die for.
Fancy snacks is what our children call the courses at La Colombe, and that's exactly how it is.

HARBOUR HOUSE, KALK BAY
Eating sushi and shellfish in one of the most beautiful places on earth. You will not expect it, when you drive straight across the railroad crossing and see the tiny harbor with those rickety wooden boats.
Even the restaurant itself looks worn from the outside, but trust me, wait until you get inside; the view makes up for everything. You'll have a stunning view of False Bay, and with a bit of luck, you might even see whales swimming by.
CHEFS WAREHOUSE
There are several of them at different locations, each with its own chef. What they all have in common is that these chefs make a difference in their own unique way, and it's always a little party.
At Beau Constantia, you have a magnificent view of the Constantia vineyards. At Tinstwalo, you'll feel completely lost by the sea, and Maison in Franschhoek is the perfect place for families with children.
They serve a tapas-style set menu. The dishes are creative and always surprising, reflecting the seasons.
Tip: Don't overindulge in the risotto; there's another course afterward. Desserts aren't included, but they're definitely not to be missed.

THE BUTCHER SHOP,
MOUILLE POINT, CAPE TOWN
At this restaurant, located opposite the lighthouse in Mouille Point, carnivores can indulge themselves. Did you know that you don't even have to chew a steak in South Africa? It's that tender.
You simply order from the menu or at the counter, where you can select the cut of meat you want prepared. You'd think it's not about the size, but when you see what's on display, it really is.
The wine selection is extensive and the service is very (child-) friendly.
FYN, CAPE TOWN
A fine restaurant, top-notch. Located in the heart of the city, on the fifth floor, you have a majestic view of Cape Town.
The high-ceilinged décor is a real eye-catcher, as is the rest of the interior. The restaurant and kitchen blend seamlessly. Everything has a cosmopolitan feel, just like the dishes. They are oriental-inspired, with a nod to the restaurant's South African roots.
It's a perfect date-night restaurant with great service. The owners also own Beyond, located at the Buitenwachting winery. Also one of my favorites.

DUNES BEACH RESTAURANT,
HOUT BAY
Dunes is a must visit with children, located close to the most beautiful bay of Hout Bay.
The kids can play freely in the sand. There is a jungle gym and there are always plenty other kids. In the meantime the parents, can enjoy the view and their drinks.
The sundowners are stunning and the service is always friendly. Can recommend the fish and chips and "bitterballen."

BISTRO SIXTEEN82,
CONSTANTIA
I used to joke that for the price of their tapas menu, I couldn't cook. Of course, this logic suited me rather well, but it was true. Times have changed, but we still go there regularly.
The setting is beautiful, the seating is comfortable, and the tapas dishes are surprisingly and delicious. They can be ordered individually or as part of a three-course menu.

THE WATERSIDE,
WATERFRONT, CAPE TOWN
Below Restaurant Pier, you'll find this casual fine dining restaurant, which the whole family loves. Our daughter even said that her jaws always hurts when they serve the bread dish because she knows how delicious it is.
Besides the incredibly delicious food, you can also choose from fantastic wines. You're right in the heart of the bustling Waterfront, where you can watch the boats come and go.
BEYOND,
CONSTANTIA, CAPE TOWN
At Buitenverwachting winery and owned by the same people as the Fyn restaurant. I'm a fan.
The enormous windows in the restaurant itself provide a stunning panoramic view over the vineyards.
The dishes are prepared with attention to the ingredients and are always exceptionally tasty.
The wine list is extensive, and the wine expertise is impressive. What not to like. I'm a fan, or did I mention that already?

COY, WATERFRONT,
CAPE TOWN
Tucked away in Waterfront, you'll find this modern restaurant with a killer view of Table Mountain.
The dishes consist of typical South African ingredients, often with an oriental twist. The service is pleasantly friendly and the wine list is also very nice.
An ideal spot for a date night. Or an afternoon, what you prefer.
This is just a small selection. If you'd like more information or have any questions, please contact me directly.
